The track from Skallagrímsgard down to Brákarsund, in the heart of the old town, plays a key role in the overall structure. It connects the two squares and forms an important axis. The old town has a lot of interesting architecture and history. Some of the houses have lost their style and beauty, but they can still be saved and restored to their grandeur if there is a will. The project should propose how best to fill the gaps with good use and with respect for what is already there. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on the overall context and on an improved streetscape. The proportions and type of buildings, use, surface finish, green areas, street data and parking are part of the preliminary design. A lot of emphasis is placed on the participation of residents, where they can share their experiences and future vision for the area and express themselves about use and needs.
