The sand was one of the main activity and public spaces of Borgarness, as old photos show. In front of Landnámsetir there is now a large embankment on which new houses stand. The old stone jetty, which used to play an important role in activities and port life, can still be seen below Brákarbraut, by the bridge to Brákarey. The area has a beautiful view and many possibilities. The Old Slaughterhouse stood there for a long time and was one of the main landmarks of Borgarness in its time. The building jutted out into the sea next to the stone pier, where there is now an embankment. The current regional plan allows for two new buildings to the west of Brákarbraut. There is an idea to take a closer look at the location of these buildings and whether it will strengthen building in the axis of Brákarbraut in a place similar to where the old slaughterhouse stood, thus creating a square that could accommodate all kinds of activities. Such a square could better connect Brákarey with the land and be an interesting place to eat and a destination in the town. You also need to consider parking for the area and the island.
